A firefighter puts his life in the hands of his equipment. Besides the challenge of creating a product that works seamlessly in these incredibly stressful environments, it is also important that the product express and communicates safety and trust to the firefighters. They should at first sight have a secure feeling of the product. A weak product is short lived in a fireman’s hands, which has been a major challenge in this project. Working with a visual strength and values that radiates both robustness and flexibility.

The unit is mounted on the mask and will appear as a part of the mask, rather than something that has been added. Additional challenges have been designing buttons and features. In extreme situations, it is required that all functions are easy to understand and perform. In addition, the device should be possible to handle with the heavy gloves that the fighters normally wear.
