05 May Transform Seminar 2016
The conference gathered Nordic participants and lecturers and took place on November 24, 2016 at Kulturhuset in Stockholm.
The conference was planned in collaboration between Idesign and Sofia Hallström, who works as a journalist in the design area.
The idea behind Transform was, along with competitors, organizations, operators and researchers, to share our knowledge within the design field of Public transport
and to discuss how we can work together to develop this important topic further.
An important aspect and focus of the conference were: How do we attract more travelers to travel together and to choose a more environmentally friendly alternative instead of choosing car and flight as the main passanger transport.
We received support from the Swedish Transport Administration to create a report describing the need for research on the subject; Design and collective travel to attract more travelers. The purpose of this report is to highlight the importance of design in public transport. Examples from several Swedish – and a Norwegian – projects, shows what role design plays in public transport today. The underlying purpose is to find out how design can be used to increase the opportunities for reaching the Swedish goals of sustainable travel and a doubling of public transport by 2020.
The report aims to provide a basis for increased knowledge about design in public transport in Sweden. It highlights some of the gaps that exist in the research and what would need to be examined by public transport companies to be able to work more efficiently and purposefully with design, to attract more people to use public transport.
The report is now published by the Swedish Transport Agency and can be opened / downloaded via; (in Swedish)
