Client: Kinnarps During Stockholm Design Week 3-8th of February 2015, Kinnarps had a pre-launch of their new task chair Capella. We were invited four years ago in the early stages of the project to be responsible for the design and has been throughout the whole process
The brief was to develop a new task chair that was easy to use and easy to adjust. This was made possible with the new mechanism, developed by Kinnarps. In this project we have implemented a completely new innovation, the floating armrest. This gives a great advantage; the freedom to move the armrest with very little effort, all while fully supporting the arm.
The base is developed to be light and neat, still we have kept the possibility to use the footplate as a comfortable foot rest. If seated without shoes the footrests structured surface gives the possibility to give your tired feet a well deserved foot rub.
The overall design is focused on qualities in Scandinavian Design; timeless, simple, light and craftsmanship. These core values are embodied by treating the seat and backrest in a dressed manner and giving every detail focus and attention to create a rich and solid seating experience.
The chair will be displayed at the Milano Furniture Fair in April 2015.
The Capella chair has been designed by us in close cooperation with the excellent engineers and ergonomic experts at Kinnarps.
